Music Video Marketing in Advertising Industry


It is almost a trend for the singers/celebrities to release a music video for the products they are advertising. It is a win-win situation; celebrities can release digital music easily, and the advertising companies can maximize the 'star/celebrity power'.

Celebrities such as Big Bang, Wonder Girls, Lee Minho are advertising cell phone, beer and more based on 'freshness', and are releasing digital mp3 and music videos. Because the competition is fierce between the companies, the models are often the ones who can impact the younger generations more.

For example, in cell phone market, Big Band and Wonder Girls are competing. LG's Cyon utilized Big Bang and 2NE1's Lollipop (reigning #1 songs on various music charts), and KTFT Ever has released 'Now' (remade from FinKL's original back in 2000) with Wonder Girls.

The reason why Big Bang has been on high in this advertisement was, because it was an incredible opportunity for YG entertainment to advertise new girl group 2NE1. Although Big Bang is the 'true' model for Cyon, YG could advertise 2NE1 to the public prior to their debut. Cyon is winning because they are getting the attention by using number 1 idol, Big Bang, as their model, and also by unveiling 2NE1 before their group; and YG is winning because 2NE1 is getting attention through Cyon.

Hite has produced music video for Big Bang's 'So Fresh, So Cool', and got attention from the 20s. Big Bang has dominated not only the music industries and concerts, but also fashion and books. They are being recognized as the best model to get the most attention from all generation.
