GD&TOP Album Zooms to Number 1!

GD&TOP CD zooms to the NUMBER ONE spot in one of the country’s biggest record retail chains, Astroplus/Astrovision’s album charts (dated February 28 to March 6, 2011). GD&TOP album occupies the NUMBER ONE spot in both their OVERALL ALBUM CHART and INTERNATIONAL ALBUM charts! Astroplus/Astrovision has more than 80 record stores nationwide!

GD&TOP is the FIRST NUMBER ONE album in the Philippines for Big Bang affiliated project GD&TOP and is the 2ND NUMBER ONE album for YG Entertainment in the country after 2NE1 “To Anyone” went number one in January 2011. GD&TOP is also Universal Records’ 16th Number One K-Pop album!

Universal Records in cooperation with Big Bang Philippines Fan Club, Astroplus, Odyssey and MYX finally launched YG Entertainment amazing duo GD&TOP’s album in the Philippines last Saturday (March 5th). The Album Launch Event was held in three record stores – Astroplus The Block, Mall of Asia and Odyssey Megamall and an estimated close to one thousand VIPs trooped to these stores to show their support for their K-pop idols! Album buyers can be part of Big Bang′s fan club in the Philippines by filling up the membership form, plus a chance to win GD&TOP standee by posing with their bunny ears for the “Bunny High Contest”. Of course, VIPs are also excited to have a grab of GD&TOP albums and get those amazing freebies! Big Bang cover groups Dynam[i]te and Chronic Beats graced the event and entertained everyone with their moves.

Official Photos of YG Entertainment artists for Nikon Imaging Korea

Earlier today, YG Entertainment and Nikon Imaging Korea held a ceremony celebrating their collaboration at Seoul’s Hyatt Hotel.

The two companies announced plans to continue their joint partnership, which has proven to be a mutually beneficial relationship.

Nikon Imaging Korea revealed that they would feature the YG stars in their year-long campaign. The campaign is called ‘A Shot A Day‘, and Nikon products will be used to capture the stars’ daily lives, which will be later released in an episode format.

Shortly after this announcement, the Nikon Imaging Korea official website was updated with official photos of the YG Entertainment artists, check out the photos below.

YGE and KBS reach a compromise, Big Bang to make a comeback on “Music Bank”

The dispute between YG Entertainment and KBS has finally been resolved!

The boys of Big Bang will hold their long-awaited comeback stage on this week’s episode of KBS’s “Music Bank“, for which they’ll perform their title track, ”Tonight“. This will complete their round of comebacks on all three major public broadcast networks.

Representatives of YG Entertainment met with representatives of “Music Bank” on the afternoon of March 8th, and finally reached a compromise that allowed Big Bang onto the show.

Industry representatives believe that this compromise was possible because of Big Bang’s ‘K-Chart’ win last week; they’ve also been nominated for this week as well.

The boys will focus on promoting their title track, which will also be showed on MBC’s “Music Core” this week after pre-recording their stage on the 5th.

Big Bang, Super Junior, & KARA will not perform in MBC’s ‘50th Anniversary Korean Music Wave Concert’

It was just announced that Super Junior, KARA, and Big Bang will not perform at MBC’s “50th Anniversary Korean Music Wave Concert in Bangkok“.

MBC will be sending their ‘Show! Music Core‘ staff to Thailand on March 10th to prepare for the epic event. The music program’s PD has already flown to Thailand to manage the production.

The concert will feature 15 popular artists, who have reorganized their schedules in order to participate in this overseas concert.

KARA considered performing, but ultimately made the decision not to perform. Reportedly, the girls felt uncomfortable about appearing on TV during the middle of their contract dispute.

Big Bang will not be participating, since MBC’s list of performing artists was already finalized before they released their album. As for Super Junior, the boys are currently busy with their unit activities and overseas promotions.

It has not yet been announced when the concert will air in Korea. Though the event takes place on March 12th, viewers will see only a regular episode of ‘Show! Music Core’. Since most of the staff will be in Thailand on that day, MBC will air the pre-recorded show that was filmed on the 5th.

BIGBANG's practice video for 'tonight' and 'somebody to love' revealed

Following the online release of Big Bang’s practice video for TONIGHT four days ago, YG Entertainment has revealed the practice room version of Somebody to Love on Big Bang’s official Youtube channel, giving fans a clear glimpse of the choreography

With a full set of backup dancers participating from beginning to end, this video reveals the dynamic details of the choreography that achieve an effect that wouldn’t have been the same with only five members on stage; the collective mass part at 2:30-46 is especially striking. Another nice touch is the rising microphone concept as the backup dancers serve as human mic stands — for example, see Seungri at 0:32, Daesung at 0:48 and T.O.P at 1:15.

One amused viewer said, “I think TOP’s favourite dance is ‘the drunken walk’,” while others praisedShaun Evaristo, the master behind Big Bang’s choreography, for his successful work.

Big Bang reveals the traits of their ideal women

In a recent interview with DongA News, the members of Big Bang revealed the traits of their ideal women.  Although each of them looked for different things, they all agreed that they were looking for a woman who understood them.

Daesung revealed, “I want a woman who likes me and is understanding of my career.  I’d like to be able to lean on her for support, and whether she’s older or younger than me, I’d like for her to be able to console me and give me strength when we’re together.” When asked to choose a physical trait, he replied, “A woman that looks beautiful when she smiles.”

Taeyang stated, “Someone who is on the same page as me.  She needs to be understanding of me and the way I live my life, as well as be wise so I can learn from her. I’d like for her to stimulate me in a way that makes me want to work even harder.  Ever since I was little, I’ve liked women with Western features.”

G-Dragon expressed, “It’s important that I feel comfortable around her.  In the past, I used to have a detailed vision of what my ideal woman would be like; for example, ’someone with short hair and a tomboyish style’. But these days, it’s just someone who I’m comfortable with and doesn’t act fake around me.”

T.O.P revealed that he did not have a specific ideal woman, just as long as she can “match herself to him.” He elaborated, “I’d like someone realistic who can direct me to good paths; someone who I can learn from.  She needs to be mannerly and respectful towards the adults.” T.O.P added that he would like to marry late as well.

Seungri concluded, “A woman with a cute phone voice and a lot of aegyo.  I honestly do look a lot at physical appearance.” When asked to choose a specific girl group member that was the closest to his ideal woman, he chose After School’s UEE.  “I didn’t really notice in the past, but working with her on broadcast programs made me realize how beautiful she is.  But for now, it’s not anything possible.”
