TOP to transform as Kang Maestro for ‘Beethoven Virus’ parody

Big Bang TOP will transform for Big Bang’s ‘Beethoven Virus’ parody for their ‘Big Show’ concert which opens on 30th January.

The parody is named ‘Big Bang Virus‘, based on MBC recent drama ‘Beethoven Virus’. And in the parody, TOP will transform as Kang maestro played by Kim Myung Min in the drama.

TOP will mimic Kim Myung Min’s hairstyle and also his special accent for the parody, which will be hilarious. He will also imitate the famous line from the drama ‘lump of shit’ said by Kang Maestro in the drama.

‘Big Bang Virus’ talks about Big Bang members’ auditions before their debut. The female lead will be played by SeungRi, there will also be a kissing scene played byTOP and SeungRi in the parody.

Already, Big Bang had done parodies on ‘Boys Over Flowers’ and ‘Coffee Prince’ previously. Again, their new parody will become the talk amongst netizens and fans

Big Bang’s DaeSung Returns to Trot with “It’s a Big Hit” on January 29

After DaeSung’s “Look At Me, GwiSun” comes a new trot song “It’s a Big Win,” which will be online on January 29.

Last year, DaeSung introduced “Look At Me, GwiSun” (composed by fellow Big Bang member G-Dragon) to attract the older generation and also younger generation. “It’s a Big Win,” means to feel some kind of hope even in this economic crisis of 2009.

The music video will be directed by Cha Eun Taek, who also did Big Bang’s “Lies” and “Day by Day,” as well as BoA’s “Eat You Up.”

Sandra Park’s 1st Korean TV Role in “The Return of Iljimae”

According to an article from ABS-CBN, a Filipino television broadcasting company, Sandara Park will appear in her first Korean drama role in MBC’s “The Return of Iljimae,” which started airing on January 21. Since then, the ratings have boasted a nationwide ranking of 4th with 18.5% and 17.1% on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, when the show airs.

Sandara is the latest addition to the YG female Big Bang group, and says that she auditioned in late 2007 and met Director Hwang (who also directed hit drama “Goong”). This is her first serious role in a Korean drama with the character of Rie, a Japanese girl. Her episode will air on February 11.

“Concert Battle” in the Olympic Stadium in Jan-March 2009

The Olympic Stadium will be the battle field for the most popular idol groups in 2009. The idol groups which all competed on music programs in the late 2008 moved their stages to concerts in 2009; groups such as Big Bang, DBSK and Wonder Girls are having their concerts in January, February and March at the same place (the Olympic Stadium).

Big Bang is having their annual concert “Big Show” from Jan.31 to Feb.1 in the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium. They added an extra concert (previously three performances) to four performances; all 52000 tickets were sold out as predicted.

5th “Female Big Bang” member?

sources have revealed that the 5th member of the "Female Big Bang" is 19 year old Kim Bo Hyoung (김보형), who is supposedly a close friend of Sandara's. Kim Bo Hyoung will be joining CL, Park Bom, Kong Minji and Sandara Park for their April 2009 debut.

Rumor has it that the groups name will be "Queens" .

Big Bang Exhibition in Osaka, Japan

In Osaka, Japan there's an art gallery where they're exhibiting pictures of Big Bang as art. The exhibition lasts until March 2nd, so if you're a VIP in Japan you can check it out.

You don't really expect KPOP stars to be the art pieces at a art gallery but Big Bang is art. As successful as TVXQ / DBSK has been in Japan, they haven't been featured.

Big Bang DaeSung and SeungRi’s awkward relationship

Big Bang members SeungRi and DaeSung appeared for the filming of SBS ‘Close Note’ on 18th January.

They are the next idol group members to appear on the show after WonderGirls YooBin and SoHee.

And fans were curious why DaeSung and SeungRi were on the show since they 2 seems to be close and can follow each others’ responses well on MBC Music Core.

But the truth is DaeSung and SeungRi are actually quite awkward with each other, and this has actually been revealed in an interview with Big Bang last November.

In that interview, TaeYang said, “SeungRi and DaeSung have been quite awkward with each other even after being together in the group for so long. It is just like the relationship between Lee Hyori and Kim Jong Kook.“

They also revealed, “There can be extremely long period of silence between the 2.”

The rest of the Big Bang members have supported SeungRi and DaeSung’s appearance on the show, knowing that there actually do lies the deep connection between the 2 friends and teammates.

The first and second episodes have been aired this 20th and 21st where we can see Jeong's hard work in losing 8 kg to fit the role.

SeungRi's Strong Baby Performance on Mnet Countdown

Seungri in Big Bang got first place on Mnet Countdown on Jan.22nd with his new song, ‘Strong Baby’.

Filmed live in Seoul, He competed with Kara for the first place, and won for the first time as a solo artist. He thanked his parents, and Yang Hyun-suk for giving him the opportunity, and Big Bang for raising him up as a strong baby. He also mentioned VIP (his fans) as apple of his eyes.

He added that he will show much improved and fresh performances next time, and it could have not been achieved alone; he thanked the dance crew, managers and all the staffs who helped him along the way.

Big Bang is having their annual concert, ‘Big Show’ on Jan. 30, 31 and Feb. 1.

4th Baeksang Award Nominees ; ‘F4′ Lee Min Ho & Kim Bum Nominees For Best New Actor

F4 members Lee Min Ho and Kim Bum have been nominated as candidates for the Best New Male Actor for the 44th Annual Baeksang Arts Awards held on February 27th.

The two are showered with the love of their fans playing F4 members Goo Jun Pyo and So Lee Jung in current popular KBS drama, ‘Boys Over Flowers.’

Lee Min Ho has been nominated for his role on ‘Boys Over Flowers’ while Kim Bum for his role as young Song Seung Hun in MBC drama ‘East Of Eden.’

The members of popular idol group, SNSD leader Tae-yeon and member of Big Bang, Seung-ri were chosen by the fans they want to night-ski together this winter!

The survey was conducted by bugs.co.kr (music site) on Jan.12th-19th, and Tae-yeon was placed first by 1407 people out of 2854 participants.

Second place was Seungri of Big Bang. He made debut as a solo artist these days, and he was placed highest amongst the male celebrities; chosen by 781 people.

Four 22 Year-old Star Actors Up and Coming

Lee Min-ho, Jeong Il-woo, Moon Geun-yeong, Jang Geun-seok

Lee, of the hit new drama series "Boys over Flowers", has shot up to stardom. Jeong is also getting significant attention, and his drama "Iljimae Returns" has yet to start.

Moon, who won the Grand Prix at the SBS TV awards late last year, was the heroine of the historical drama "Painter of the Wind" while Jang cemented his popularity for his role in the hit music drama "Beethoven Virus".

All four were born in 1987. The talented foursome of 22 year olds is set to rule 2009.

◇ Tall, handsome, born stars
The four all have handsome looks and long, slender legs. Lee is 186cm, tall, Jeong 184cm tall, and Jang 182cm tall. Moon appears small but she is in fact 165cm tall.

Lee is well built. In the drama, his character sports curly hair so his head looks bigger on screen but strong facial looks match his masculine figure.

In contrast, Jeong and Jang have more of a feminine flair. They have smooth, small faces while Moon is close to a real-life fairy tale character.

◇ Big career break
Moon first gained attention playing the childhood character of actress Song Hye-gyo in the hit 2000 series "Autumn in my Heart". The Moon syndrome began with her 2004 film "My Little Bride". In the latest "Painter of the Wind", she was comparable to her co-star, veteran actor Park Shin-yang. Her role of a woman disguised as a man was also well played.

Jang played the rebellious younger brother of actress Jeon Do-yeon in the 2005 "Lovers in Prague". He continued to appear in "Hwangjin-i" in 2006, "Hong Gil Dong" last year and in the latest "Beethoven Virus" in which he played a genius musician.

Jeong was another case of overnight stardom through the hit sitcom "High Kick!", which ended in 2007. In the lead role of the new drama "Iljimae Returns", he is anticipated to play a character compared to Lee Joon-ki's performance in the 2008 "Iljimae".

Lee Min-ho is the latest heartthrob and teen superstar thanks to "Boys over Flowers". He debuted in the EBS drama "Secret Campus" in 2006 and appeared in a number of movies including "Public Enemy Returns" and "Our School E.T" but didn"t gain much attention. His role of the wealthy and cocky "Gu Jun-pyo" in "Boys" has earned him explosive popularity.

◇ Only 22, ready to soar
Receiving the grand prize at last year"s TV awards, Moon said she feels more sorry than grateful. She said "I want to continue acting but I'm greatly burdened by this award".

Lee has confessed to difficult times in the past 3 to 4 years when he was unknown and things didn"t work out as well as he thought they would.

Guess whose love cry got an answer? What an awesome day for Baby Seungri. First the M Countdown win, and now his boy crush returns his affections.

Big Bang's baby solo act Seungri was a guest on Chin Chin Radio with Kangin on Jan. 22nd, and guess what? Junsu of Dong Bang Shin Ki, who Seungri has on more than one occasion confessed his love for, made a surprise phone call to the show.

The two chatted about DBSK's most recent Oricon Chart achievement, and Junsu said that he likes Seungri's song, and for him to continue to work hard at his solo career. Then Seungri blushed and giggled like a little school girl whose crush sat next to her in homeroom.

Big Bang iStation PMP CF

Big Bang is featured in a CF for a new PMP (Portable Music Player) by i-Station. It looks like the CF was filmed a few months ago because their hair styles look like it.

The CF features a girl playing with the PMP and each of the Big Bang members doing a task. First, TOP starts beat boxing while Seung Ri dances, Taeyang is up next and sings his song for the girl. G-Dragon comes on after and dances like a little kid, Daesung dances to his trot music wearing a flashy hot pink blazer, and then each of them take a turn dancing. It ends with all of them in the girls room and they run out as the mom approaches. Daesung gets caught though and the mom says why the hell is Daesung in here as he slowly walks out.

T.O.P. Will Reunite With Lee Hyori on Family Outing

It has been a long wait for Lee Hyori, but no doubt worth it. Following after Daniel Henney in the New Year Special, charismatic Big Bang member T.O.P. will be the next to appear on SBS Family Outing as a guest family member.

T.O.P. joined the existing family members of Family Outing at a village in Okgye, Gangneung City, Gangwon-do province on the 19th and completed the filming successfully. T.O.P. is the 3rd Big Bang member to be on Family Outing after Daesung who is a permanent family member and G-Dragon last year.

Over the 2 days of filming, T.O.P. went fishing and had a snowball ‘fight’ with the other family members. One member of the production team revealed, “It’s much more interesting seeing them in action yourself than on television.”

PD Jang Hyuk Jae revealed in a phone interview today, “T.O.P. performed better than what I had expected with his great sense of variety timing. Please also anticipate the juicy stories that will be revealed through the interactions between T.O.P. and Daesung during the broadcast.” The Family Outing episode with T.O.P. will be broadcasted over 2 weeks from 8th February.

Boys Over Flowers - Kim Bum & Kim So Eun - The start of skinship...and an anticipated loveline

The sub-loveline of Kim Bum and Kim So Eun in the KBS drama Boys Over Flowers is drawing increasing attention from viewers.

Gifted potter So Yi Jeong (Kim Bum) and Jandi's friend Ga Eul (Kim So Eun) have started a beautiful "bickering relationship".

As compared to the heartaching love triangle between Jandi - Junpyo - Jihoo, the loveline between Yi Jeong and Ga Eul is lighthearted, which has made the plot even more interesting.

The scenes of this lighthearted couple appeared in the 5th and 6th episode aired on Jan 19 and 20. As Yi Jeong tries to create opportunities for Jandi and Junpyo to be alone together, there has been more interaction scenes between Yi Jeong and Ga Eul.

Although the two are always quarreling, Yi Jeong running in search of Ga Eul after hearing her scream, nonchalantly offering to apply sunscreen for Ga Eul, and helping her up the horse, are all signs of skinship foreshadowing a beginning loveline between the two in this drama.

Because of this loveline, Kim Bum and Kim So Eun who were previously in the spotlight for their roles in East of Eden and Empress Chun Chu, have once again drawn everyone's attention.

As already reported that VIP’s and Wonderfuls, Big Bang and Wonder Girls’ fanbase respectively taking a rude action by reserving TVXQ’s 3rd Asian TOUR MIROTIC tickets without any intention to actually pay which resulting in huge amount of canceled tickets, and the issue is running even further ever since.

The cheating sales done by (in the news is only mentioned) VIP’s which caused loss around 10 million won regarding the cancellation of 1700 tickets, resulting to more than 200 fans got arrested by the police (T/N I’m not sure about this arrested part, so do not take it too serious before I can figure the real meaning).

Moreover, as the auction site finally re-opens the selling for all canceled tickets, the price went so high thus now has been a heated verbal disputes going on between both fanclubs.

VIP has also issued an apology to Cassiopeia, which I think is correct as they were in the wrong this time. No word on Wonderfuls yet.

I was surprised with some of the responses here, with the "so what" and "whatever it's just DBSK", or "it doesn't affect them cause there's so many". Please have a better attitude about this, I'd be just as upset if this happened to BB, or any other group for that matter. Thankfully VIP has apologized, and I hope this matter gets settled before peoples' feathers get riled any further.

SeungRi was on SBS PowerFM ‘Song Eun Ee Shin Bong Seon’s DongGoDongRak’ when he said, “Big Bang right now has also no idea when our popularity will falter. The Return of Iljimae Posts Impressive Rating for Opener

On the day before the debut of The Return of Iljimae on MBC, actor Jung Il Woo had mentioned that he was already mentally prepared for any criticisms, low ratings and comparisons with SBS Iljimae starring Lee Jun Ki last year.

Jung Il Woo had taken on the role of Iljimae because he had total trust in director Hwang In Roe. He has been trying really hard to understand and immerse himself in the role for the past 6 months for a solid potrayal of the character. But he admitted that he is feeling a lot of stress trying to live up to expectations and also being the main man helming the drama.

Jung Il Woo first and foremost wish was that many viewers would tune in to watch the opener and is ready to receive any advice and criticisms from viewers. He is also open to the fact that there will be comparisons between his drama and SBS Iljimae plus the fact that Jung Il Woo was actually the 2nd choice (Lee Seung Gi opted out for 1 Night 2 Days) but he is mentally prepared.

Unlike SBS Iljimae, MBC The Return of Iljimae is based on the original comic by Ko Young Woo. While the earlier focused heavily on revenge, MBC’s version is about a man who was left under a plum blossom tree as a baby and grew up to fight against the selfish and corrupt government to save ordinary peasants.

But Jung Il Woo must have been a relieved man as The Return of Iljimae not only posted an impressive rating of 18.5% for its opening episode, it also became the new leader for the Wed-Thus drama timeslot. Even better news for Jung Il Woo and MBC was that its opening episode rating trumphed the rating for the debut episode of SBS Iljimae (14.8%) by 3.7 percentage points.

KBS Kyung Sook’s Father also making its debut after Kingdom of the Winds, posted a rating of 11.1% while SBS Star’s Lover remained bottom with only 7.6%. SBS is really taking a beating in the ratings department with Terroir and Star’s Lover faltering badly in the Mon-Tue and Wed-Thus timeslots.

SeungRi Shares About Relationship With Wonder Girls

On Jan. 20, Big Bang vocalist SeungRi’s sharing on SBS Power FM radio show “DongGoDongRak” has been garnering a lot of interest from netizens lately when he commented on his relationship with the Wonder Girls.

The MCs were talking with SeungRi about his relationships with fellow celebrities when the Wonder Girls were mentioned.

“In the early stages, I kept away from other performers. We performed together a lot with the Wonder Girls, but while practicing it was really awkward and we almost did not talk,” shared the youngest member of Big Bang. “Two or three years have passed and now we have a relationships where we can joke around.”

Shin Mina to work on movie Billion next

Shin Mina's up and coming movie Kitchen (키친) opens in South Korea on 5th February, 2009.

Shin Mina (A Love To Kill) has worked with co-star Joo Ji Hoon twice. The first time was in the 2007 drama Devil (마왕). Kitchen is their second project together.

Last year, the 25 year-old actress was in the movie Go Go 70s. Without taking a break, Shin Mina will be filming the movie Billion (10억). The movie, directed by Jo Min-ho is a story about eight men and women who participate in a survival game. The prize is a billion won! Sounds very much like Survivor to me. The movie is a thriller and it is based in Australia.

Shin Mina will be leaving for Australia to film the movie end of February.
