BIGBANG Hits 100,000 Mark in Sales

"In retrospect, it was probably a smart move for artists to reshuffle their comeback schedules, as Big Bang dominated the Korean music market in both online and offline sales.

On February 28th, Hanteo reported that Big Bang has sold a record-breaking 100,000 units of their latest mini-album. On February 28th alone, they sold 58,000 copies. This is an enormous achievement, as it normally takes top groups a full year to sell 100,000 units.
Big sales numbers in Korea are generally lower than that of other countries thanks to the prevalence and ease of illegal downloading. Last year, B2ST gained attention for being the only rookie group to have sold over 100k units, but that was with the release of four mini-albums and a grueling promotion cycle. According to Hanteo, the top seller in 2010 was Super Junior’s “BONAMONA“, which sold 129,000 units.
Big Bang also accrued another achievement, as they entered the ‘U.S. Top 10 iTunes album charts’ for the very first time, peaking at #6.

“My Black Mini Dress” cast for “W” Magazine + Movie Trailer

YooThe cast of “My Black Mini Dress“, consisting of Yoon Eun Hye, Yoo In Na, Park Han Byul and Cha Ye Ryun, recently donned their own versions of LBD for a photoshoot with “W” magazine.

The actresses wore their own unique dresses with different makeup to accentuate their personal charms. They also gave small descriptions of each other for the interview.

Cha Ye Ryun said about Park Han Byul: “She’s transparent. She’s very pure and nice so she doesn’t seem like a celebrity. You may think she looks snobby but she’s very cool and honest. She likes playing golf and bowling, and her active lifestyle is kind of surprising.”

Yoo In Na said about Yoon Eun Hye: “She’s like an artist. She’s very detailed and talented so she can draw very well and do her hair and put on makeup like a professional. She also styles clothes very well.”

Yoon Eun Hye said about Cha Ye Ryun: “She’s a child-adult. She has a lot of experience so even if you don’t say anything, she knows what you’re feeling. She looks cold but she’s always warm and bright that she makes the filming atmosphere loud and cheerful. ”

Park Han Byul said about Yoo In Na: “Her real personality is not any different than the ones show in “Heroes” or dramas. She’s not fake so even as a girl, she’s a very cute and lovable person. ”

The actresses also had individual shoots, like the one with Yoon Eun Hye shown below. She sparkles in a flattering gold dress, with layers of fancy necklaces. Her stylish side swept hair and smoky eyes make her look very fierce and commanding.

Yoo In Na discusses “Secret Garden”, singing, and her past

On February 10th, actress Yoo In Na guested on YTN’s “News & People” and heated up the hearts of her soldier fans by revealing that she’d visit twice a month if her boyfriend was serving in the army.

The actress was asked what she thought about her fellow castmate on “Secret Garden,” Hyun Bin, enlisting in the marines, to which she replied, “If I had a boyfriend like Hyun Bin that voluntarily enlisted in the army, I would probably tell him that I was proud of him.”

She continued, “I don’t think he’ll miss me if I went too often, so I think I’d visit maybe twice a month.”

When asked whether she ever thought of doing the ‘foam kiss’ with Hyun Bin instead of her partner,Kim Sung Oh, she replied, “I’ve never actually thought of it.  The scene with Kim Sung Oh wasn’t originally planned, and he made about 20 NGs.  The directors were also enjoying the atmosphere on set and made us do it many times over.  If my partner was Hyun Bin and not Kim Sung Oh, I would probably do my best to make an NG during the foam kiss.”

The reporter then asked about her first impressions of Ha Ji Won, and she replied, “I thought Ha Ji Won senior would be scary, but she’s very innocent and nice.  She’s cute, and also has a lot of aegyo.”
When asked about her impression of ‘Hyun Bin oppa,’ she answered, “He’s not my oppa, we’re actually the same age.  Manners just seem ingrained in his body, he’s very cool.

Yoo In Na also recently featured in Humming Urban Stereo’s latest digital single, which led the reporter to ask what the singing profession meant to her.  She replied, “When I see the singers in my agency, they’re all so talented that I can’t imagine even thinking about singing.  When I see Big Bangand 2NE1 rehearse, I realize that not anyone can become a singer.  When I was younger, I had greed for both singing and acting, but during my trainee years, I felt more charmed by acting.  I don’t think about singing lately, I think it’s difficult to call me a singer because I just sang one song.”

On her goals for the future, Yoo In Na concluded that she’d like to become an actress that makes a long-time name for herself in the industry.  “I officially debuted through ‘High Kick Through the Roof,‘ which means I was basically a trainee for 10 years.  I enjoyed the training part, so it wasn’t difficult for me, but the endless waiting and my opaque future did often scare me.”

She continued, “Whenever it got difficult, I began wondering why I had started this career path, and why I was living.  The conclusion was always just ‘because I want to be happy.’  In order to become happy, I knew that I had to be an actress, which is how I was able to withstand it.”

Yoo In Na concluded, “When I saw my trainee friends debut before me, I wasn’t jealous.  I just thought, ‘Wow, they must be really happy.  I want to be with them too.’”

Yoo In Na chats about Humming Urban Stereo, IU, and her Ideal man

On February 9th, actress Yoo In Na guested on MBC Radio’s “Blue Night, This is Jung Yeob” and shared her thoughts on working with Humming Urban Stereo for his latest digital single, “You That Day.”

She began, “I was worried about messing up the song, but I earned a better response than I thought, so I’m glad.  I felt my voice was a bit awkward at first, but listening to it more made me like it, and now I turn it up loudly in my room.”
The actress often talked about how she hoped to pursue a singing career, and so she was asked whether she wanted to join a particular girl group.  She replied, “It’s probably impossible, but I’d like to join 2NE1.”

When asked to choose her ideal man, she chose actor Kim Kab Soo and explained, “Kim Kab Soo’s acting is so moving.  My ideal man has since changed to him.”

The DJ mentioned how a lot of male celebrities (such as Lee Kwang Su, G-Dragon, and Lee Seo Jin) chose her as their ideal woman, and Yoo In Na shyly replied, “Their ideal women have probably all changed now.”

The actress was also asked about how she came to develop a friendship with IU, who’s 10 years younger than her. Yoo In Na mused, “IU is mentally older.  An hour really isn’t enough when we’re complimenting each other, and I still haven’t been able to find any of her flaws.”

Her guest appearance concluded with a heartwarming shoutout to her family members, after it was revealed that Yoo In Na worked hard for 10 years in order to reach her current level of fame.  “I don’t have an amazing story to tell, like how my family was against my career choice, but my family did worry a lot about me.”

Behind-the-scenes of Seungri’s “VVIP” MV

If you’ve seen the MV for Seungri’s comeback song, “VVIP”, you’ll know that the plot borrows heavily from ‘Alice in Wonderland’.  While fans ogled their idol Seungri, they also gushed over the adorable little girl who plays Alice in the music video. The little girl, whose name is Kim Yu Jung, was actually casted by Seungri himself!

A TV station got access to the set of Seungri’s MV shoot, and managed to interview the two together.One of the questions they asked was which Big Bang member she liked the best; she responded with a politically-correct, “I like all them all!” But when pressed by the reporter, she admitted that she was a fan of T.O.P.

The reporter commented that Seungri, who was right beside her, was probably a bit disappointed, but Seungri replied, “It’s OK – From today on, she promised that she’d like me best!”

The reasons for Big Bang trip to America

There are only about two weeks then BIGBANG will comeback with their ‘Bigshow’ after their more-than-2-year hiatus. Their leaving for America on 7th has really arouse our attention.

It seems that they embarked the journey because they have to film the MVs of the songs in their brand new album. A staff of YGE revealed that they are now preparing MVs which are in different styles from those in the past. In order to capture the natural beauty of the scenery as most as possible and jump out of the mundane framework of a MV, they have chosen America to film them.

However, if we take a look at the schedule of their America journey, we can then conclude that they are not only going there to film the MVs. Since YGE has planned that BIGBANG and 2NE1 should advance into the overseas market the soonest in this year, it has invited famous American musicians to take part in their music production since last year and the frequency is getting higher and higher.

On the day that BIGBANG departed, the world class musicians, DJ of Black Eyed Peas and DJ Poet came to Korea to help producing the album of 2NE1. It also signifies an important step of YGE’s advancing into the overseas market.

The president of YGE also said, "we have been actively supporting the collaboration between our artists and the overseas producers, there are many American Hip Hop musicians who like BIGBANG and 2NE1. I have also been taking advice from them."

‘BIGSHOW’ will be held from 25-27 in Seoul Olympic Park. Different from other idol groups, they would not comeback on TV channels but in their ‘BIGSHOW’. Such kind of dedication to their concerts and the high quality of the shows are the specialties of BIGBANG.

In this way, BIGBANG do not only film their MVs in America but are also having meetings with their potential partners in making music and as the same time, they are also discussing their direction and strategy of advancing into the America market.
